When my doctor suggested getting a humidifier for my cough, I struggled with the idea, not wanting yet another thing to clutter my place. But when I discovered the Crane animal humidifiers (and that they are filterless per doctor's instructions), I was happy to have a "fun" option. The mechanisms of the machine are simple to use (fill up the water tank, and turn the knob to the desired humidity level) and it did make it easier to sleep and breath in my apartment. While I do wish that I could set this humidifier on the floor (instructions recommend that it be placed higher than 2ft from the floor, although I'm not sure what would happen if it wasn't), I haven't tried because I'm not willing to chance my hardwood floors.
I also bought the filter for the product, although I'm not sure that I really need it given I use filtered water in my humidifier. After the filter's life cycle runs out, I'll try the filter with just filtered water and see if it makes a difference. Will update this review accordingly. Has anyone used this humidifier with aromatherapy methods?
Overall, the product has delivered on the metrics of easy-to-use and easing my health issues, so I can't complain. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a humidifier and especially for those want something with a bit of personality to it.

moisture is trapped in head dragon shell, it is suppose to come out the eyes. The moisture builds up then runs out down the sides and onto dresser. Can't beleive Crane would even sell this. Had the frog and it worked great.

We tried the elephant first. We loved it!!! It was quiet, didn't leak, and so cute! It worked great almost nonstop for 7 days. Then it started to get louder. And louder. And LOUDER! No good for a nursery, so we took it back and exchanged it for the penguin. Exact same thing all over again! It seemed perfect at first. And this time we made it to almost 10 days before it started that ominous whirring that heralded the last humidifier's demise. Too bad, but I'm afraid this product stinks. My assumption is that the other (more positive) reviews were written before their unit died on them.

I am very pleased with this humidfier. I may even buy a second one. I have hard water (working on that problem), so cleaning this product is not the easiest. But that is not a problem of the humidifier. It works well.

Works great. Easy to use. It's cute. Only thing I wish it had was a handle of some kind by the filling hole so when your filling it, it's less awkward to hold in that upside-down position. Good thing it's only 1 gallon and doesn't get too heavy! Totally worth the price.
